Petr Pelzman

My name is Petr

The main motif of Petr Pelzmann (*1988) is the human figure, whether in large-format group depictions as a contemporary teatro mundi in the tradition of Goya and Bacon, or in psychological portraits, where he also pays homage to van Gogh, Lucian Freud, or Matisse. This is not a postmodern citation, but a synthesis of various influences in the search for a contemporary and individual path within the rich traditions of painting and its handwritten and colorful expressiveness. He paints either from life or from memory, as a portrait or figurative composition, often with period attributes and always with deep insight into the personal state of the subjects depicted.
