I was born in Cagliari where I began my artistic training by attending the local Liceo Artistico and then completed my studies in Florence at the Accademia di Belle Arti. I have lived in Tuscany since 1975 and have resided and worked between Prato and Milan since 1982. My poetics aims to give a face to the beauty of the ephemeral and to portray the eternal deception perpetrated by time. The theme of the transience of everything, is reflected in my activity. To this end, my installations continuously play on the perception of the real consistency of the structures I make, thus rendering the sense of the transience of things that I highlight with the "petrification" or "russeting" that, like Medusa we all operate by giving different meanings to things. My works are also distinguished by the absence of the human figure in order to place the viewer at the center of the scene so as to have maximum interaction, so that in his "being-there," he becomes the absolute protagonist, the main character of my installations who takes the place left by the absence. This is why in my work I prefer environmental installations that, rather than "transmitting to the audience," allow for greater communicative reciprocity with those who "inhabit" them. There is a fundamental difference between "transmitting" and "communicating" in that, the former is basically unidirectional, while the latter, relying on interactive exchange, is multi-directional. And this is another important goal I aim to achieve with my work. The techniques I employ are far removed from traditional ones in that I make use of those materials that belong to our present, while retaining a privileged, though not univocal, relationship with the material. So along with modern synthetic resins and the potential offered by digital, I also make use of recycled materials and waste from industrial processing. Waste from a consumer economy that increasingly speeds up the process of separation between what we consider to be in our possession and what increasingly soon falls into the oblivion of disuse. Since 1974 I have been exhibiting in Italy and abroad, in solo and group exhibitions.
